Fundraiser for wildfire hit
THE Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles will organise a
special fundraiser today to help provide financial assistance to
underserved communities and lower-income households displaced due to the
fires of Southern California.
The money collected will be donated to the Red Cross for
distribution.
“Americans resident in Southern California contributed greatly to Sri
Lanka during our tsunami disaster,” said Jaliya Wickramasuriya, Consul
General.
“We look forward to returning the favour and doing whatever we can to
assist families in need who have been hurt by these devastating fires.
We
encourage all the local South Asian communities to join us in this
important humanitarian effort today.”
The fundraiser will be held at the Office of the Consulate General of
Sri Lanka, 3250, Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1405, Los Angeles, CA 90010.
All cheques should be drawn in favour of the ‘Consulate General of
Sri Lanka’ note at the bottom of the cheque (for fire victims of
