Sleeping cops get punishment transfers

Five police personnel including two Sub Inspectors of the Kandy police have been given immediate punishment transfers for dereliction of duty.

The five police personnel deployed for night duty in the High Security Zone near the Sri Dalada Maligawa recently were found fast asleep leaving their weapons aside during an inspection around 3 a.m., said Kandy SSP Jagath Abeysirigunawardena.
