Two day conference to mark Sino-Lanka jubilee anniversary
A two-day conference will be held at the Bandaranaike Centre for
International Studies (BCIS) on October 21 and 22 to commemorate the
50th Anniversary of China-Sri Lanka Diplomatic relations.
This conference has been organised as one item of a series of events
in 2007 to mark the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations established
in 1957 with the People’s Republic of China.
The Conference will consist of four sessions and the following main
areas will be covered by eminent resource persons from China and Sri
Lanka; (1) Five Decades of China-Sri Lanka Friendship and cooperation; A
Retrospect, (2) Strengthening of Cultural Cooperation towards a better
understanding, (3) Exploring potential for Economic and Trade
Development for mutual benefit and (4) China-Sri Lanka cooperation in
the context of South Asia Regional Cooperation.
The Chinese delegation for the two-day Conference will be headed by
Prof. Xu Jian Vice President and two delegates from China Institute of
International Studies (CISS) and Sri Lanka will be represented by the
officers from the Public and Private sector, members of the China-Sri
Lanka friendship Association and representatives from Chambers numbering
over one hundred.
The Inauguration Ceremony will be held on October 21 and the Keynote
Address will be delivered by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ye Dabo, Ministers, Members of
Parliament, Departmental Heads and several invitees will grace the
