First free school uniform material to Jaffna

The distribution of school uniform material for year 2008 to 93 Zonal Education Offices will commence from Monday, an Education Ministry release said.

The first consignment of material worth Rs. 62 million for 155,000 students will be shipped to five Zonal offices in the Jaffna District from the Colombo Port under the auspices of Minister Nirmala Kotalawala.

The Government has allocated Rs. 1,260 million to distribute 10 million metre length of material purchased from local suppliers to be distributed free.
