Two nabbed with lorry, double cab made of vehicle parts

The Moratuwa, Modara police on Wednesday arrested two suspects with a lorry and double cab made of vehicle parts imported from Japan worth Rs. 9.5 million. Modara OIC Anil Maskorala said the assembled vehicles with counterfeit chassis and engine numbers were recovered at a vehicle park in Koralawella.

“We believe that this vehicle racket has been going on for several years, thus evading the payment of import taxes to the Government”, he said.

The two suspects, residents of Koralawella were remanded after being produced before Moratuwa Chief Magistrate M.N. Buran.
