Lanka a success story in battle against terror

Sri Lanka in its battle against terrorism has set examples and its successes has given other democracies hope that terrorism can be fought and overcome, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said yesterday.

Crackdown on human trafficking

US funded programme to train 500 law enforcement officers:

A US funded programme to combat the scourge of human trafficking was launched yesterday, with the intention of helping law enforcement officials to identify instances of trafficking in persons and increase the rate of prosecution of those responsible for the practice in Sri Lanka.

Bond issue raises investor confidence

Sri Lanka’s five-year, $500 million bond offering has received orders worth more than $1.25 billion, which was oversubscribed three times over. The Government will obtain this loan at an annual interest of 8.25 per cent, Minister of State Revenue and Deputy Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
