Commemoration of Lt. Commander D.D.N.M. Premaratne

The first death anniversary of Lt. Commander D.D.N.M. Premaratna of the Sri Lanka Navy who sacrificed his life in the defence of nation falls on October 20. In his memory, a pirith chanting on October 20th night and alms giving on the following day will be held at his residence Gabbala, Kotuwella, Rambukkana.

He was killed by an LTTE’s suicide bomb attack targeting at unarmed Navy convoy at Digampathana on October 16, last year.

The 19th intake officers of SLN of the Sir John Kotalawala Defence University has organised a separate commemorative ceremony.

Born on April 20, 1978 he entered the Defence Academy as a cadet officer on August 5, 2002 and was appointed as a sub lieutenant the next year.

He was promoted to Navy lieutenant on February 5, 2006 and has trained with the Indian Navy.
