Rajans amass 351/8

CRICKET: A forceful knock of 89 with 11 four off 128 deliveries by left-hand opening batsman and National Under-19 poolist Buwaneka Ekanayaka helped Dharmaraja College to score a massive 351 for 8 declared on the opening day of their Inter-schools Lemonade Trophy Cricket Tournament match against Vidyartha College which began at Police Grounds, Kandy yesterday.

Despite the wet outfield and interruptions due to rain the Rajans made merry to run up a big total. The opening pair of Kumara Ambagaspitiya (51) and Buwaneka Ekanayaka put on 88 before being separated. Ekanayaka was also involved in a third wicket stand of 74 with Chandimal Ratnayaka (51).

Dharmaraja 351 for 8 decl. 80 overs (R.P. Kumara Ambagaspitiya 51, Bhuwanaka Ekanayake 89, Chandimal Ratnayake 51, Ramesh Yapa Bandra 25, Tharindu Perera 40, T.D. Balasuriya 33 not out, R.S.K. Weerakoon 2 for 97, Nadun Basnayaka 3 for 106).

Vidyartha 6 for no loss in 3 overs.
