Govt. obliged to receive Foreign envoys

COLOMBO: The Government yesterday said it harboured no reservations in receiving United Nations envoys visiting Sri Lanka, in keeping with international protocol.

Commenting on the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna’s (JVP) call to be wary of inviting UN Special Rapporteur to the country, Highways and Road Development Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said the Government has ensured transparency in all its activities.

“The JVP issued similar warnings even before this. But, in terms of the international obligations undertaken by Sri Lanka, we have to facilitate their visits.

Furthermore, we do not have anything to hide from the international community,” he added.
