Foreign Ministry clarifies report

COLOMBO: The Foreign Ministry referring to an article in an English weekly of September 30, 2007 titled, “Bush will veto Leahy’s resolution - FM”, said Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama did not at any point during his visit to New York meet with or provide an interview to the journalist of the newspaper in question.

Bogollagama met with representatives of the media at an international media briefing held at the United Nations premises in New York, at which the Minister did not make the statements which have been reported in the newspaper.

Bogollagama is scheduled to attend a series of bilateral meetings with officials of the United States of America administration and Congressmen in Washington.
