Over to you Mayor Kotte

The entrance to Parakum Mawatha from Jayanthipura Road end, there is an illegal encroachment of about three yards, for about fifty yards that too on a bend, the encroacher is also running a three wheel repair shop testing brakes and horns even in the middle of the night is a great nuisance to the residence. Road in this section is badly damaged and is a hazard to vehicle owners, school vans, women, school children and all pedestrians.

On one side of this road, a bylane with a culvert through which runs a drain joining the storm drain of Jayanthipura main road. When this culvert was damaged, the owner of this house not only filled it up with earth but also extended his front wall to block the flow of water to the storm drain. Whenever there is a heavy rain, the bylane gets flooded and water gets into the houses down this lane.

Near the house of this person there is a pylon, hundred feet high, the space under the pylon was dumped with garbage a few years back. Garbage was ten feet high, smell nauseating. A doctor residing nearby spent about Rupees twenty five thousand and got the premises under the pylon cleared.

Now this miscreant has the audacity to fence area under the pylon with alive hedge using the premises for nefarious activities by the three-wheel drivers who visit this place for repair. some nights, smell of weeds burning can be felt by those passing this area. Senior residents had not complain through fear of reprisal by thugs in threewheels.

Over to you CMC, CEB and Health authorities

Some serious developments to residents in the Sri Dharmarama Road (Kaliapulle-watta) in the Dematagoda needs to be immediately brought to the notice of the CMC, CEB and Health authorities.

There are several high tension overhead cables of the CEB passing through the area - two of which are in close proximity to several dozens of houses here wherein live babies, school-going children, men, women and the elderly.

For inexplicable reasons, there have been at least six deaths in this area in the past year or so - all due to cancer-related diseases. Some of the dead have been young persons who have suddenly taken ill and died within days.

The people of the area are mostly labourers and ordinary folk with hardly any connection with the political system or the Government.

Therefore, the serious development that has caused them great fear and anxiety could not to be brought to the notice of those concerned in the Government. I hope authorities will take immediate action to save the people of the area.

Many people in the area, due to lack of housing have put up unauthorised shacks which have been turned into permanent brick-stone structures duly recognised by the CMC authorities. Unless Government takes urgent and objective action lives of many other innocents here are likely to be lost and their dependents thrown to the street soon.
