New Anthony's farms awarded HACCP

Receiving the award

New Anthony's Farms has been awarded Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification in recognition of the high standards used at all stages of its food production and preparation processes.

HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety which addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection. It is used in the food industry to identify potential food safety hazards, so that key actions, known as Critical Control Points (CCP's) can be taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of the hazards being realized.

As one of the top producers of poultry in Sri Lanka over the past 18 years, New Anthony's Farms has won the trust and confidence of its wide clientele for producing quality, hygienically safe, nutritious and tasty chicken.

The company gives top priority to quality and safety of its products. This was the primary reason for the awarding of the coveted HACCP certification by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) to New Anthony's Farms.

HACC is the biggest honour a company involved in the food production business could earn in recognition of globally-accepted standards used at all stages of production and preparation processes.

The company regards HACCP certification as a key milestone in its journey towards achieving greater excellence.

New Anthony's Farms emerged from humble beginnings. Initially, it got off the ground as a self-employment project and gradually evolved into a fully-fledged, multi-million rupee business organization.

New Anthony's Farms was able to reach greater heights and worked towards excellence primarily due to the indefatigable efforts and profound dedication of Emil Stanley, the company's Managing Director.

Stanley wife, Mari Seetha Lakshmi, was a tower of strength in this long and arduous journey and her business acumen contributed significantly to steer this organization to the pinnacle success. It was a salutary joint effort which transformed a small-timed self-employment project to an exemplary, large-scale business venture, which has now been credited with HACCP certification.

Their 18-year journey to develop this business into a professional, modern venture with a substantial capital investment in the long-term was not a bed of roses. Many were the obstacles they had to encounter and tide over valiantly. The devotion and loyalty of the employees of New Anthony's Farms, have been a great source of strength in this forward march.

The two daughters and son of Emil Stanley family also play an active role in the management of the company.

New Anthony's Farms markets its high quality chicken under the apt theme 'Safe Food - Good Life" which speaks volumes about the commitment towards consumer wellbeing. The key objective is to improve quality constantly and offer a better product at every available opportunity.

New Anthony's Farms has made a meaningful contribution towards easing the unemployment problem in Sri Lanka by providing jobs to a considerable number of men and women. All employees are paid a reasonable remuneration and provided with welfare facilities to work with peace of mind in a conducive environment.

The company's state-of-the-art processing facility is situated at Hanwella. All employees are provided with clean uniforms and have access to accepted sanitary facilities to ensure that the production process adheres to global standards.

Chicks obtained from breeding centres are provided to farms run by the company as well as to registered farmers who work on a contract basis on a buy-back basis. The necessary poultry feed, medicines and veterinary services are extended by the company to ensure that the birds are raised within a healthy environment.

The company's experienced sales staff handle the distribution of 'New Anthony's Farms Broiler Chicken' products islandwide.

The slaughtering of the birds is done strictly according to Halal stipulations. The All Ceylon Jamyathul Ulema Organization has certified that the chicken is Halal. Therefore, Muslims can consume chicken processed by New Anthony's Farms without fear as the products carry the Halal certification.

The top quality of New Anthony's Farms chicken has been widely acknowledged both by customers as well as corporate clients. Even the John Keells, a Blue Chip company, uses New Anthony's Farms chicken in the production of sausages.

Five-star hotels, Buhari Hotel and top restaurants are also amongst the corporate clients of New Anthony's Farms. This, in itself, speaks volumes about the top quality, superior taste, safety and wide acceptability of New Anthony's Farms chicken.
