JKCS airlines win World Awards 2007

JKCS is pleased that several of its customer airlines were named winners at the World Airline Awards 2007.

The awards are based on the annual World Airline Survey carried out between August 2006 and June 2007 by Skytrax.

JKCS extends its congratulations to Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines and Air Arabia for their well deserved honours.

Qatar Airways, a JKCS customer since 2006, won three Skytrax awards. The Doha-based carrier secured the Best Airline in the Middle East award for the second year running, while cabin crew once again won top honours as Best in the Middle East for the fifth consecutive year.

Qatar Airways also saw its global ranking rise to be named among the top five airlines in the world in the annual survey of almost 15 million international travellers spread across 90 nationalities. The airline’s global ranking rose to a commendable 4th position.

JKCS is proud to have engineered the Internet Booking Engine for Qatar and continues to design and develop both passenger-facing and back-office systems for the airline out its state-of-the-art airline software competency centre in Colombo.

Emirates Airlines was named winner of the Best Inflight Entertainment Award for the third consecutive year and the Best Regional Airline - Middle East.

Emirates has made massive investments to provide passengers the very best in-flight entertainment since 1992, when it became the first airline to offer personal TV screens in all classes on its fleet.

JKCS supported the airline’s innovative customer service strategy with cutting-edge IT systems - this partnership is now in its ninth year. JKCS has close to 100 software engineers engaged as on site consultants on a range of airline projects in Dubai.

“Best low-cost airline - Middle East, 2007” was won by Air Arabia. JKCS is proud to partner the IT strategy of this acclaimed low cost carrier through a highly successful joint venture based in Sharjah, UAE.

Through this co-operation JKCS has delivered the “core systems” that are required for the airline. “AccelAero” is the core application that supports ticket reservations.

Other systems were engineered to support holiday reservations, crew scheduling and revenue management, a press released states.

Airlines gas emissions creating rift

DRAFT measures to clip airlines’ skyrocketing greenhouse gas emissions are creating a rift at the 36th International Civil Aviation Organization talks, which kicked off here Tuesday.

Representatives of 190 nations are meeting in Montreal this week to decide which course to plot to curb CO2 emissions linked to global warming, as the EU readies to take unilateral action to force airlines to pollute less. The ICAO assembly meets every three years to refine, harmonize or set new worldwide air travel regulations.

“The big question dominating this year’s conference is airlines’ increasing carbon emissions,” Denis Chagnon, spokesman for the ICAO, told AFP, noting consensus had already been reached on new airline safety and security measures going into the talks. AFP
