China launched its first nationwide urban public transport week in an attempt to raise residents’ awareness on energy saving and environmental protection. The “Green Transport and Health” campaign, which covers 108 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, encourages people to walk, ride bicycles and take public transportation like buses, subways and taxies rather than drive private cars, to ease the pollution, the ministry said.
