Four Monetary Bills deemed not passed
Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara informed Parliament
yesterday that four out of the five monetary Bills presented by the
Government on September 6 were not legally passed at the Committee
stage.

Jeevan discharged in cheating case
Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga and Prasanna Rajeewa
who appeared before Gangodawila Chief Magistrate Padmini Ranaweera,
on notice by Court, were yesterday discharged from the proceedings
into an alleged cheating case on an application by their Senior
Counsel.
