Site turned into inferno:

Air Force fighter jets yesterday bombed a location where a leadership meeting of the LTTE was in progress in Mullaithivu inflicting large scale death and destruction on the outfit.

Over 160 topics to be discussed at 62nd UNGA sessions

The 62nd General Assembly sessions of the United Nations will commence on September 25 in New York, President's Media sources said. President Mahinda Rajapaksa will represent Sri Lanka and participate at these sessions. He is also expected to meet and hold talks with several foreign state leaders, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara informed Parliament yesterday that four out of the five monetary Bills presented by the Government on September 6 were not legally passed at the Committee stage.

Eight per cent economic growth targeted for 2008

SRI LANKA can achieve an 8 per cent economic growth next year, Central Bank Governor, Ajith N. Cabraal said at the launch of the Web portal of Sri Lanka German Business Council yesterday at the Ceylon Continental.
