Wilpattu open after clearing operations are completed

ANURADHAPURA: The Wilpattu National Park will be opened for tourists as soon as clearing operations are completed by the Security Forces in the Silavatura area, North Central Province Governor Berty Premalal Dissanayake said.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Anuradhapura Miridiya Tourist Resort on September 19 regarding the Cultural Pageant organised by the North Central Provincial Council on September 27 to mark World Tourism Day.

Dissanayake said it was heartening to note that both UK and Germany had declared Anuradhapura as a safe area for foreigners.

As such the North Central Provincial Council would soon launch a tourist promotion campaign highlighting all cultural and religions monuments, archaeological sites and indigenous Ayurveda treatment methods endemic to the North Central Province.
