TTSC's Shuttle tourney this week end
BADMINTON: BOC Travels for the first time will sponsor the
14th Travel Trade Sports Club Badminton Championships 2007 which is to
be held on September 22-23 at St. Thomas' College Indoor Sports Complex,
Mount Lavinia, commencing 9.00a.m. on both days.
The tournament will be conducted on a team championship basis for
Men, Women and Veterans. There will be 14 (men), 6 (women) 6 (Veterans)
teams competing in this years championship.
The Men's 'tie' will consist of 3 singles and 2 doubles, while the
women's 'tie' 2 singles and 1 double, with Veterans having one men's
single, one women's single, one men's double, 1 women's double and one
mixed double for men over 40 & women over 35.
Last year, Hotel Topaz Kandy won the men's title for the first time
beating Lanka Princes, Sri Lankan Airlines retained the women's title
beating Hotel Topaz and Sri Lankan Airlines also won the first ever
Veterans tournament beating Serendib Leisure.
The teams - Hotel Topaz Kandy, (Men, Women & Veterans), Sri Lankan
Airlines (Men, Women & Veterans) , Lanka Princes Aluthgama (Men), Saman
Villas (Men), Ramada Resort Kalutara (Men), Neptune Hotel Beruwela
(Men), Hilton Colombo (Men, Women & Veterans), Tangerine Beach, Kalutara
(Men & Veterans), Serendib Leisure (Men, Women & Veterans), Royal Palms
Kalutara (Men), Aitken Spence Travels (Men & Women) , Trans Asia Hotel
(Men & Veterans), Taj Samudra Hotel (Men) & John Keells Group Hotels
(Men & Women).
Gerard Victoria, General Manager of BOC Travels handed over the
sponsorship cheque to the President of TTSC, Prasanjit Perera at a
formal ceremony held at the Holiday Inn last Wednesday. Also present at
the event were Ashan Senviratne, the tournament Co-ordinaor /TTSC and
Tyrone Perera, Sports Events Co-ordinator /TTSC. |
