FCCISL Machinery Exhibition finest opportunity for SME enterprises
The annual Machinery Exhibition organised by the Small and Medium
Enterprise Developers (SMED) of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce
and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) will be held at the Sirimavo
Bandaranaike Exhibition Centre (BMICH) from November 2 to 4.
It will be a good opportunity for industrialists, specially for the
SME sector to select their machinery requirements, ancillary equipment,
processes, methods and new technology.
It would also provide an opportunity for the machines and equipment
manufacturers to market their products by show-casing them at this
Exhibition.
As the theme of this year’s exhibition “Technology for Rural, Micro
and SME Development” depicts, the objective is to strengthen SMEs to
become competitive enterprises manufacturing good quality products and
services at affordable prices and to promote innovative production
processes in the SME sector, which generates employment opportunities.
While the SMED collaborates with the Ministry of Industrial
Development in organising the Machinery Exhibition, Ministries of Rural
Industries and Self Employment Promotion; Science and Technology;
Investment Promotion and Enterprise Development and World Association
for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) co-partner the exhibition.
There will be foreign and local participation and countries like
India, Pakistan, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are expected to
participate.
Exhibits will include machinery for food processing, coconut based
product manufacture, dairy/farm equipment, metal working,
non-ferrous/ferrous casting, plastics and fibre glass, rubber and rubber
products, leather/shoe making, recycling/recovery, plastic
recycling/palletizing, electrical, tea, welding equipment and the list
goes on to cover a major list of machinery and equipment.
In the ancillary equipment, processes, and new technology cover
preservation, value addition, dies, moulds, tools; metal finishing and
the other BDS providers include, IT services; accounting software;
communication equipment entrepreneurship development; environmental
services; pollution control; energy management/equipment; factory
installation and safety equipment suppliers.
Secretary General, FCCISL Samantha Abeywickrama, said this Exhibition
would be a fine opportunity for small and medium sector entrepreneurs to
get exposure by interacting with local and foreign SMEs and people from
related industries. He said that his process would immensely benefit
their businesses.
He said that FCCISL established SMED jointly with Friedrich Naumann
Stiftung (FNSt) and also jointly organising the Machinery Exhibition and
said that their main objective is to strengthening the SME sector and
organisations which represent the SME sector; promotion of industrial
growth and generation of employment.
Organisers request those who wish to exhibit their machinery and
equipment to apply early.
The visitors to this Exhibition are expected to be Sri Lankan
business community from all districts and regions, overseas
buyers/sellers, potential entrepreneurs (local and foreign) and the
general public.
There would also be machinery and equipment for a range of new
products such as rope making, pharmaceutical, medical herbs and
ayurvedic; cosmetic, essential oil, fisheries and aqua culture; wood
working; ornamental products etc the venue of the Exhibition would also
be ideal for advertising products and services. |
