Swimming pool for Zahira

SWIMMING POOL: The laying of the foundation stone to build a swimming pool at the premises of the primary hostel of Zahira College took place on August 24 under the patronage of Fouzul Hameed (Chairman, Board of Governors, Zahira College and President of the OBA).

Realising a dream ushering in a new era of development, Fouzul Hameed (President of Old Boys Association) revealed that this project will cost Rs. 50 million.

Zahira College, Colombo established on August 22, 1892, is now 115 years old. It is the only private school among the 750 odd Muslim schools in Sri Lanka.

Learning to swim is a life saving experience. At the same time, swimming is by far one of the most enjoyable fitness activities one can participate in. It's hard to beat swimming when it comes to sport that strengthens the body, soothes the mind, regulates breathing, stimulates circulation and puts no stress on the joints.

The distinguished guests present at this historic ceremony were A. H. M. Fowzie (Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development), T. K. Azoor (Principal, Zahira College) and Rizvi Niyas (Secretary, Board of Governors Zahira College).
