Has succeeded in establishing benchmarks:
Unilever among the top multinationals
Ranked eighth (up three places) amongst LMD’s Most Respected Entities
in Sri Lanka in 2007, Unilever Sri Lanka has crossed another milestone
in its pursuit of business excellence.
Conceptualised and commissioned by LMD, and conducted by AC Neilson a
leading market research company, the survey was designed to identify and
rank the ‘The Most Respected Entities’ in Sri Lanka and to find out as
to why they are perceived as being so by the business community.
The survey covered a sample of 500 business people attached to
entities within the limits of Greater Colombo. Unilever Sri Lanka, one
of five multinationals to make the top thirty is now in eighth place, up
three notches from eleventh place last year.
According to LMD “Unilever Sri Lanka leads the multinational charge
this year. It moves up into eighth place as the manufacturer of an
extensive range of personal care products, forging ahead towards its
vision of doubling its business by 2010.
“Guided by the multinational’s global best practices in all areas of
its business including governance, Unilever has succeeded in
establishing benchmark standards for local players as well.”
The ranking is based on a survey among Sri Lanka’s corporate sector
which evaluates companies’ performance on ten criteria - financial
performance, quality consciousness, management profile, honesty,
innovation, dyna- mism, work environment, CSR, vision and national
mindedness.
Chairman, Unilever Sri Lanka Amal Cabraal said, Unilever believes
that wealth creation must be done in a responsible manner and its
sharing must go beyond the company’s shareholders to the society at
large. |
