Heed 16 year age rule, principals told
COLOMBO: National Identity cards are issued only to persons above 16
years age. School Principals should take note of this regulation when
applying for National Identity cards on behalf of students sitting
public examinations the internal Administration ministry said yesterday.
The Ministry said there are instances where applications are sent for
identity cards without heeding the 16 year age rule.
This practice should be stopped forthwith the Commissioner for
Registration of Persons A.G. Dharmadasa has requested. National Identity
card applications for students completing 16 years sitting the 2007
December G.C.E. Ordinary level Examination should reach the Department
on or before October 15.
