School text books on time

COLOMBO: The Education Ministry will distribute school text books for 2008 before the commencement of next year’s new term following instructions of Education Minister Susil Premajayantha. Unlike in previous years students will receive their text books with the `Quality Text Books in Time’ concept.

All students countrywide will receive their text books on time, the Minister said addressing the `Text Book Distribution Ceremony 2008’ at the Ministry Warehouse.

One million books have been printed for 2008.

These books will be distributed among four million schoolchildren. The Ministry has introduced a single text book system. Private and international schools may obtain text books used in Government schools. Under this programme the Minister aims to give equal opportunity to all students.

“This is a unique opportunity for private and International schools to get of such text books written by experts”.

The text book transport will be carried out by Salusala.
