Eating poisonous food main cause for diseases - Hemakumara

The main reason for various illnesses today is partaking food with poisonous substances , Agriculture Minister Hemakumara Nanayakkara said. "Many vegetables and fruits available at the market have been contaminated with chemical liquid used to prevent them from various diseases, pest etc. Complaints have also been received that such poisonous substances harmful to health are added to fruits and vegetables at trade complexes to keep them for a longer period," he said.
