Ranil’s MoU with Mangala, a surreptitious letter - Minister Rajitha Senaratne

“COLOMBO: “The MoU signed by the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe with Mangala Samaraweera is like a surreptitious letter and it refers to an additional agreement which nobody knows.

Ranil Wickremesinghe will never be able to win another election with those bankrup politicians, Construction Minister and Member of UNP D Group Rajitha Senaratne said at a press conference held at Seth Sevana, Kirulapona yesterday.

He said it was Mangala Samaraweera who introduced Ranil as Mr Bean and published a newspaper against him sometime ago but now he cannot do anything without Mangala and he has betrayed all senior party members to make him the Deputy Prime Minister. But according to section 6.5 of the MoU signed between Ranil and Mangala they will be contesting under the symbol of Lotus not the elephant, he said.

Senaratna pointed out that even the General Secretary Tissa Attanayake was not given a speech at the Janarala, instead Sripathi Sooriaraachchi who was court-martialled from the forces for corruptions got that opportunity. He was critical about the appointments of UNP organisers and said it was like making broilers within 45 days.

The UNP D group member R.A.D. Sirisena said Ranil Wickremesinghe and Malik Samarawickrama changed the UNP constitution secretly in a stubborn manner and that is why 18 members joined the Government.
