Facilities for Mollipothana Sinhala MV on Presidential directive
COLOMBO: Students of Mollipothana Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in
Kantalai, Trincomalee called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple
Tress during an educational tour in Colombo yesterday.
The President who had a frank discussion with the students about
their current educational problems, spoke to Education Minister Susil
Premajayanth and requested him to address the problems highlighted by
the students immediately including the teacher shortage.
The Minister assured the President that he would follow suit and
categorise the Mollipothana Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya as a Navodaya School
soon. A President Secretariat release said when the principal pointed
out the lack of laboratory facilities at the school, the President
assured that he would address that problem after discussions with the
Eastern Province Governor.
The President also directed his Additional Secretary Gamini Senarath
to provide the school with a television as requested by the students.
The students who pointed out that theirs was the only Sinhala
Vidyalaya in Muttur, said they were now able to pursue their studies
without any fear or suspicion due to the liberation of the East and were
thankful to the President, Security Forces and police.
They said they also have modern roads and electricity in their area
due to the Government’s Jathika Saviya Gama Neguma programme and were
hopeful of a bright future with the future development of infrastructure
through Government intervention. |
