Upholding true SriLankan values
DISTRIBUTION: SriLankan Airlines and the Singapore based Maha
Karuna Bhudhist Society distributed educational material, school
uniforms and dry rations to schoolchildren across Sri Lanka to mark the
month of Poson.
The Airline and the Maha Karuna Bhudhist Society mostly comprising
Buddhists of Chinese origin living in Singapore also gave away saffron
robes to 600 young monks or Samaneras in the Kurunegala district.
SriLankan Airlines and its charitable arm SriLankan Cares are strong
advocates for children’s welfare and have long supported the Singapore
based society’s charitable activities with free and concessionary air
freight and tickets to Sri Lanka.
SriLankan Airlines is also evaluating a proposal to build a library
complex at the Naagala Viharaya in Nikawewa as part of its ongoing
initiative to support education and children’s welfare. |
