Over to you IGP and DIG (Traffic)
I do wish to bring to the notice of the Traffic Police, or rather
highlight the difficulties and inconveniences experienced in silence, by
the residents of Kalubowila, Sri Wimalasiri Road, Dehiwela (Old
Kalubowila Road) and suburbs, lanes areas, the motorists especially the
motorcyclists, cabs, autos, vans and lorries, try to use this stretch of
small (not so broad) lane, as a racing-track!
These speed-fiends travel at high-speeds during peak hours of the
day, with no concern at all, about the danger and risks, they cause to
the residents of the area particularly, the school-going children, old
aged patients as pedestrians and the rest, who are helpless.
When the speed-fiends, speed up, the pedestrians are bent on pushing
them back by real force, to the big drains found, on either sides of
this small lane.
Don’t these pedestrians have to go to school, go to work or to
hospital or market? What a great risk and what a pity the people of this
area are facing now?
Therefore, I do suggest, there should be speed limits enforced
straight away with boards erected on this lane (Kalubowila, Sri
Wimalasiri Road) and the Traffic Police must be on duty here at least
during the peak hours of the day, in order to maintain strict road
discipline and manners and in the interest of all the citizens.
