Slight tremor in Tissamaharama

COLOMBO: A slight tremor was felt at Beralihela, Tissamaharama in the Hambantota District between 5.30 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. yesterday resulting in the cracking of walls of five houses in the area, the Disaster Management Centre announced yesterday.

The centre said the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Institute have been requested to investigate this matter and take suitable action. A similar tremor had been recorded by the Hambantota District Disaster Management Unit on July 9.
