ATHLETICS: The John Tarbet Trophy schools athletic
championships concluded on Thursday at the Public Esplanade Anuradhapura.
Boys and girls numbering over 3,800 from 310 schools for all parts of
the country took part in different age categories.
The championships was organised by the Education Department and was
sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd.
The all island girls championship was won by Musaeus Girls College,
Colombo in Western Province with 68 points. Second and the third places
wents to Holy Family Convent and Ladies College, Colombo respectively
also from Western Province.
Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa in North Western Province succeeded in
winning the all island Boys Championship by scoring 69 points while St.
Joseph’s College in Western Province, Colombo were the runners-up with
63 points to its credit. Royal College, Colombo finished in third place.
