Army in runaway 48-7 win over Old Zahirians

RUGBY: Sri Lanka Army scored a runaway 48 points (four goals, four tries) to 7 (one goal) win over Old Zahirians Sports Club after leading 31-0 at half-time in their Caltex ‘A’ division league rugby match played at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Tharindu Dharshana (two), Asanka Perera (two), Saliya Handapangoda (one), Suranga Pilimatalawe (one), Asoka Jayasena (one) and Duminda Wickremaratne (one) scored the tries for Army with Kapila Knowlton converting four tries.

Skipper Rajeeva Karunaratne scored the only try for Old Zahirians with Cuncheer adding the extra points.

Police triumph

Police beat Air Force by 18 points (three tries, one penalty) to 10 (two tries) after leading 13-10 at half time in their Caltex ‘A’ division league rugby match played at Ratmalana yesterday.
