Speaker assures impartial inquiry into arrest of security document

KOTTE: Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara assured Parliament on Thursday that investigations to the incident relating to the seizing of an important document relating to Parliament security from the possession of a female employee of Parliament will be conducted impartially without succumbing to pressures of anyone.

The Speaker was responding to JVP Parliament Group leader Wimal Weerawansa who brought this issue to the notice of the Speaker on Thursday.

Weerawansa said the investigation into the arrest of the security document is being suppressed due to various pressures and urged the Speaker to draw his attention to this issue.

“If someone is trying to suppress this incident, I will take disciplinary action against them”, the Speaker said.

Weerawansa said an important document related to the security of Parliament has been seized by police recently.

He urged the Speaker not to allow high ranking officials to suppress the investigation.
