ADB assistance to renovate tsunami hit roads

COLOMBO: The Government distributed tools and equipment worth Rs.16 million to 41 local bodies in the Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Trincomalee, Ampara and Baticaloa districts at the BMICH yesterday, for the restoration of a drainage system in the tsunami affected roads.

Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon and representatives of Japanese Embassy and the Asian Development Bank were present.

The project for local road maintenance was funded by Asian Development Bank through the Japanese Fund for Poverty Reduction.
