- Ven. Dr. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Chief
Sanghanayake Thera
COLOMBO: The late D.R. Wijewardene who striove to build a disciplined
society published various dhamma books through Lake House for achieving
his goal.
His objective will be further strengthened by annual publications
like Poson Udanaya said Kelaniya University Vice Chancellor the Ven. Dr.
Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Chief Sangha Nayake Thera.
The publication of this annual to mark Poson which is as equally
significant as Vesak therefore should be desorbed as a noble and
meritorious deed, the Ven. Kusaladhamma Chief Sanghanayaka thera said.
He was speaking at a ceremony held at Lake House on Thursday to make
the launching of the ‘Poson Udanaya 2007’ annual edited by Ruwan
Araththanage and published by the Lake House Market Research and Annual
Publication Department.
Ven. Kusaladhamma Chief Sangha Nayake Thera said Poson Poya marked
the advent of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. The advent of Arahat Mahinda thera
on a Poson Poya day ushered in an economic, social and cultural
renaissance in Sri Lanka and helped create a disciplined society.
The advent of Arahat Mahinda Thera gave rise to values suthas love,
compassion, altruistic joy and equanimity overriding enmity, hatred and
jealousy. Such moral and spiritual values had turned upside down today
and the time has come to change that trend.
Ven. Kusaladhamma Nayake Thera also described the Budusarana Buddhist
weekly and the ‘Budusarana Dharma desana mala’ publications as similarly
important Buddhist publications published by Lake House which should be
read by all.
He also hoped that the publication of the Poson Udanaya annual too
would be continued every year. Manager Lake House Market Research and
Annual Publications Department Sumedha Arunashantha was also present. |
