President wants Pirivena exam results expedited

COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapaksa has drawn attention to the delay in issuing results of the basic Pirivena Final Examination.

The President has advised the Examination Department and the Education Ministry officers to attend to the matter. According to Education Ministry sources, the Department of Examinations has not issued the result of the Pirivena Final Examination held in December last year.

The Examination Department conducts the Pirivena final examination in December every year which is held concurrently with the GCE (O/L) Examination. The Department has already issued GCE (O/L) results even though Pirivena examination results have not been issued.

Almost all schools have commenced the Advanced Level classes for students who have passed at the GCE (O/L) Examination last year.

Students who sat for the Pirivena Final Examination are deprived of attending the Advanced Level classes since their results haven’t been issued yet, sources said.
