Lanka delegation takes part in Outsource World conference

CONFERENCE: The Software Exporters' Association affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce took the initiative to organize a delegation to take part in the 2007 Outsource World Conference and Exhibition which was held in London recently.

The Sri Lankan team consisted of fourteen Companies that hosted a pavilion 'Outsource Sri Lanka' at the exhibition promoting the country as a premier outsourcing destination. The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) together with the participating Companies funded this venture.

The Sri Lankan pavilion was situated at a prime location with prominent signage. 'Outsource Sri Lanka' was featured on delegate bags, conference material, event signage, banners, and the show booklet which gave the Sri Lankan pavilion further prominence.

'Outsource Sri Lanka' attracted sufficient interest for Finance and Accounting services outsourcing for which Colombo is rated 5th by the Global Services Index and software products and engineering services in education, finance, health services, interactive media, web applications, etc.

Industry level meetings were also held with the National Outsourcing Association (NAO); matchmakers SPG Media, Partnership Sourcing Ltd (PSL), and Outsourcing Mentor; and trade publications such as CEO, IT Leadership, FDE, and Outsourcing.

Commenting on the event Chairman of the Software Exporters' Association Mano Sekaram said that 'Outsource World was a resounding success, where we took part under the banner of "Outsource Sri Lanka! ", with 14 companies representing the Country we definitely elevated our position by participating at this event.

We were able to generate a high level of publicity and prominence. Most of our participants had a very good feedback and have received a number of positive inquiries.

Our main aim was to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for outsourcing and based on our highly successful event we hope to continue doing so."
