DHL opens 24/7 call centre, modern office complex



CEO: DHL Express Asia Pacific Scott Price

NEW FACILITY: Sri Lanka is a growing economy in the region and DHL has long term investment plans in the country, Chief Executive Officer - DHL Express Asia Pacific Scott Price said.

“Sri Lanka as a country made an enormous leap economically in the region. Therefore we have long-term confidence,” Price told a media conference to open its new state-of-the art office complex at Vauxhall Street Colombo.

He said they look at every possibility to do one day delivery services from Sri Lanka, which our industry could survive as it only do the facilitation of international trade among other countries. Price said that DHL, invested Rs. 260 million for a 40,000 square-feet facility.

This houses 130 staff for administration and operations of DHL Express in Sri Lanka, as well as a 24/7 call centre. He said despite all security concerns they are willing to invest in Sri Lanka at a slow pace until the country returns to normality.

“My visit and the inauguration of this purpose-built office and service centre underscores DHL’s commitment to its expanding clientele in Sri Lanka, which is an important market for us,” Price said.

DHL is ahead of the competition in terms of capabilities and market share through the skilful combination of global expertise, local knowledge and the deployment of latest innovation, all of which are being channelled to continuously improve the customers efficiently, he said.

Country Manager DHL Keells Limited Martin Dudek said with the inauguration of this new state-of-the-art facility in Colombo, DHL enters a vibrant new phase of its operation in Sri Lanka.

With this significant investment, DHL, aim to capture the continued anticipated growth in Sri Lanka and further strengthen our industry leadership position as our customers first choice. President Transportation and IT Group, John Keells Romesh David said it is an import investment to promote the country as an air and sea hub in the region.
