Diesel intended for LTTE seized

MANNAR: A large stock of diesel exceeding 9,000 litres being
transported to uncleared areas were seized by the Security Forces at two
different locations in Mannar on Thursday, the Media Centre for National
Security said.
According to a spokesman for the MCNS, a driver and his assistant
transporting around 1,040 litres of diesel to uncleared areas were
seized by the Security Forces in Periyagramam, Mannar on Thursday around
11.30 a.m.
“The driver and his assistant along with the lorry were taken into
custody as they were transporting the diesel without permission,” he
told the Daily News.
In a separate incident, around 7,980 litres of diesel and three LTTE
suspects were seized by the Security Forces in Mannar town. They were
transporting the diesel in a lorry to the uncleared areas on Thursday
night. |
