AIS in a convincing win over Thomians

BASKETBALL: Asian International School (AIS) registered a convincing 54 points to 7 points win over S. Thomas’ College Prep in their All Island under 15 boys `A’ division basketball match played at St. Joseph’s College, courts in Colombo recently.

At half-time the scores read 32 points to 3 points in favour of AIS.

N. N. Rajasinghe was the best shooter with 19 points while Anook and Yahren scored 6 points each for AIS. A. V. Chithranjan (4) excelled for the losers.

Colombo International School had the better of St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena beating them by 72 to 49 points in another under 15 match played at the same courts.

At half-time the scores stood at 32 points to 15 points with CIS taking the advantage. Prashastha Hemachandra (37) played a dominant role for the winners while Virosh Dharmadasa assisted him with 19 points. Sanjaya Gamlath (21) and Anjelo Thalagahagoda (10) were the chief scorers for the Bens.

Nalanda College ousted their neighbouring Ananda College by 83 to 43 points in their All Island under 15 boys `A’ division match played at St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road. At half-time Nalanda were 50 and Nalanda (22). Pasindu Madushan (24) and Ruchira Ayeshman (22) were the best players for the triumphants while Madushan Ratnayake (25) and Mindula Kasthuriarachchi (10) were the main shooters for the losers.

St. Joseph’s College overcame Maris Stella College, Negombo in a well contested match by 47 to 42 points in another under 15 match played at the same venue.

At half-time the homesters excelled with 22 points and losers were 17 points. Yohan Keyser with 34 points and Shane Seneviratne (7) brought credit for Josephians. Rayan Harintha (17) and Hemantha Fernando (14) excelled for Maris Stella College.

Meanwhile Loyola College, Negombo posted a comfortable 67 to 15 points victory over Colombo International School, Kandy in their All Island under 15 Basketball championship match played at Loyola College, courts, Negombo, recently. Heshan with 28 and Asanga (18) were the most successful players for the winners.

In another match De Mazenod College, Kandana trounced A. Ratnayake College, Walala by 87 to 53 points. Charith with 38 points and Lakshitha (15) were the best shooters for the triumphant team.

Alethea International School scored a 61 points to 57 points win over Kegalle MV in another under 15 match after going through a tough battle. The scores stood at 25 points to 24 points with Alethea gaining a one point lead at the end of the first half.

Shibbar with 18 and Sanoj (16) were the chief shooters for the winning team.
