Minister lauds SLAF’s timely action
COLOMBO: The timely action of Air Force personnel greatly evaded any
possible negative repercussions if an attack took place, Minister of
Media Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene said yesterday.
“If any possible damage took place the destruction would have cost
more than those accusations against the SLAF for creating panic among
the civil population,” the Minister pointed out, referring to the
incident at Katunayake on Thursday night.
“No damage occurred as the SLAF acted responsibly and sensibly
adhering to their duty. These measures were taken to avoid even a mere
damage to the location and the security situations,” the minister said.
Abeywardene added that if the Air Force personnel did not act in such
manner people would question them for not taking appropriate measures
though the pre-warnings reached on time.
Abeywardene said that there is no iota of doubt about the reliability
of the information received as it was from a sentry located at Palavi in
Puttalam. It is the responsibility and duty of a disciplined
organization to take the necessary actions based on such trustworthy
information. |
