Western Australia
Respected all-rounder, he featured in 76 ODIs for Australia but only
eight Tests in 12-year international career. Wisden Cricketer of the
Year in 2000 but retired from playing in 2001 after being dogged by back
trouble. Built coaching reputation at Worcestershire in England before
taking over as Sri Lanka coach in May 2005.

FUTURE: Retires after World Cup to be replaced by Tim Nielsen
Bespectacled, former university lecturer, played just seven Sheffield
Shield games for Queensland in 1978-79 and so was surprise choice to
succeed Bob Simpson and Geoff Marsh.
Not afraid to introduce radical thinking into his coaching - on the
2001 Ashes tour, he turned to war theory teachings of Sun Tzu.
Bounced back from losing the Ashes in 2005 with a 5-0 drubbing of
England last winter.
