“Lowa Kusalanaya Newatha Jaya Gamu”

THE Moratuwa Arts Forum (MAF) has released a cricket song titled
“Lowa Kusalanaya Newatha Jaya Gamu” (Let’s Win the World Cup Again) as a
tribute to the Sri Lankan cricket team in the West Indies.
Lyrics and melody of the song was composed by Priya Peiris of
Labambas.
The member artists of the Moratuwa Arts Forum, Merryl Fernando,
Derrick De Silva, Somasiri Fernando, Lincoln
Moratuwa Arts Forum records cricket song on tribute to Sri Lankan
cricket team in the West Indies. Artists Lincoln De Silva, Somasiri
Fernando, Derrick De Silva and Merryl Fernando at vocals.

De Silva, Thilak Perera,
Nihal Fernando, Primal Fernando, Jagath Peiris, Sarath Gunawardena, and
Rollings Ferdinandos have sung the song.
The single was recorded at Eranjan and Viranjan’s Studio at Moratuwa.
Of the Forum’s members that gave vocals to the Merryl Fernando has
the “Ruwan Ambara”, hit of the 60s under his belt. Derrick De Silva sang
“Rahase Liya” with former vocalist/actress Rukmani Devi. Somasiri
Fernando has the hit Sura Liyaka Wage.
Nihal Fernando the one man band, Lincoln De Silva, the leader of
Super Pink and Purple, and Thilak Perera, vocalist and the founder
member of the Forum, contributed to the song with their voices.
The Moratuwa Arts Forum was founded in 1994 on a concept of Thilak
Perera with a vision to bring all the artists from Moratuwa under one
umbrella.
The Forum’s first President was Asoka Peiris (Actor) and the first
Secretary was Lankika Perera of Golden Chimes.
