COLOMBO: Kaduwela Additional Magistrate Lakmal Wickremasuriya
yesterday refused a bail application by former Minister Sripathi
Sooriyaarachchi for allegedly misusing Government property and further
remanded till May 8..
The Magistrate allowed an application by Nalin Ladduwahetty, Counsel
for Sooriyaarachchi, to grant permission to the suspect to attend the
COPE and Parliament Select Committee meetings.
Ladduwahetti said the Order in respect of the bail application before
the Avissawella High Court will be delivered on April 26.
The CID in a further report yesterday told court that they have not
completed the investigations into the matter.
Sooriyaarachchi was arrested by the CID in connection with alleged
misusing of vehicle belonging to the Postal and Telecommunication
Department.Senior State Counsel Menaka Wijesundera appeared with the CID
for the Attorney General.
Tilak Marapana PC with Nalin Ladduwahetty, Nelanthi Peiris, Methsiri
Paranavitharana, Jayantha Samarakoon, Ranjith Pigera and B.P. Heenkanda
instructed by Paul Ratnayake Associated appeared for the suspect.
The case will be called again on May 8. . |
