Police arrest robber gang leaders

KADAWATHA: The special police squad deployed on the directions of Western Province (North) DIG Sarath Jayasundara during the week-end has arrested several gang leaders operating in the Kadawatha police area who were responsible for house braking.

Earlier the Kadawatha police received a number of complaints from the residents of Gongitota area that their houses had been robbed in their absence during daytime. The robbers had removed jewellery worth over several lakhs of rupees and several other valuable items.

According to investigations the robbers had removed the roof of a house and entered it and taken away jewellery and other valuable items. DIG Sarath Jayasundera who assumed duties recently as the Western Province North DIG said that he will take action to eradicate crime in the area and arrest the culprits and bring them to book.
