Division II soccer final on Sunday at Negombo

SOCCER: The final of the Premier league Division II final between Don Bosco SC and Sarasavi Sc will kick off under lights at the Bosco ground, Negombo this Sunday April 22. The tournament organized by Football federation of Sri Lanka attracted 91 teams from all parts of the country.

Both teams for Sunday's game are equally balanced. Don Bosco Sports Club from Negombo after competing in eight games managed to score a total of 22 goals in their favour, while giving away five goals.

Their defence has been very alert in stopping the onslaught they faced from their opponents. Negombo's strikers have done a good job in for the team to reach the final. Bosco lads won seven out oft their games and drew only with Sarasavi SC.

Meanwhile the Sarasavi Sports Club after seven games also came up with the same number of goals in their favour but gave away eleven goals proving that defence failed to halt the opposing strikers from scoring. Sarasavi Sc won five games and had to settle for two draws with Jet Liners SC and Don Bosco SC.

The winner will go away with the Trophy and cash award amounting to Rs. 100,000, while the runners up gets a purse worth Rs. 50,000.

The chief guest for the final will be Rev. Fr. Anthony H Pinto, while the guest of honour on this day at Negombo will be Manilal Fernando, Management Committee Chairman FFSL and Senior Vice President, Asian Football Confederation.

How Don Bosco reached the final:

Beat Rogers SC 2-0, beat Kurana United SC 2-0, beat Soccer Fans SC 2-0, beat Western SC 4-1, beat Rantharu SC 4-1, beat Jetliners 3-0, drew with Sarasavi SC 3-3, beat Comrades SC 2-0.

How Sarasavi SC reached the final:

Beat Old Mazenodians SC 7-6, beat Moragasmulla SC 2-1, beat Nawagampura SC 2-0, drew with Jet liners SC 0-0, beat Rantharu SC 1-0, drew with Don Bosco SC 3-3, beat Brilliant SC 7-1.
