Forces recover weapons, fuel stocks

JAFFNA: The Security Forces recovered a haul of weapons,
accessories and fuel stocks at two different places in the North-East on
Thursday morning, the Media Centre for the National Security said.
A haul of weapons were recovered by the troops following a search
operation on Thursday around 10.30 a.m in Thanankilappu, Jaffna, a
spokesman for the MCNS said. The Troops uncovered three T56 assault
riffles with three magazines and a mobile phone.
The Security Forces recovered a haul of weapons and other accessory
items hidden amidst mangrove vegetation in Eluthumadduvil area, Jaffna
on Thursday around 11.30 a.m. the MCNS spokesman added.
He said 10 T56 magazines, 10 hand grenades, a GPS device, a pair of
binoculars, a communications set, a map of the area, a grenade pouch,
stock of secret documents and dry rations were uncovered by the Security
Forces.
In a separate search operation, troops recovered 15 barrels, each
containing 210 litres of diesel hidden in Mannar town. The MCNS
spokesman said the Security Forces suspect that the diesel consignment
was meant for LTTE use. |
