EROS says allegations against TMVP incorrect

COLOMBO: Nesan Thirunesan leader of the EROS Democratic Front stated strongly that none of the allegations made against the TMVP were accurate and that the cadres of the TMVP were in no way involved in armed intimidation of civilians living in the East, in a press release issued by the party.

He alleged that the allegations made against the TMVP were unsubstantiated and unfounded. He accused the LTTE and its supporters of trying to shift the Tamil diaspora and the international community's attention from the humiliating defeats they have had to endure in the East from the Sri Lankan armed forces.

He said that the TMVP had entered into the democratic mainstream just like EROS did and therefore has made a commitment to uphold democracy which the TMVP firmly believes in and are committed to.

Nesan Shankar Raji stated that unlike the LTTE the TMVP, EROS, PLOTE, TULF, EPDP, EPRLF (P), CWC..... believe in democracy and finding solutions to the problems faced by our community through democratic means and not through terrorism, fear and intimidation which the LTTE are synonymous of.

The TMVP unlike any other democratic party has a responsibility to safeguard its members from attacks from the LTTE. The TMVP are in no way paramilitary as the LTTE and its supporters claim.

"The fact of the matter is that the LTTE are unable to digest the increasing popularity of the TMVP, EROS, EPDP and so on not to mention the ever growing support from the Tamil diaspora who are learning more about the brainwashing tactics and propaganda being used by the LTTE to win support.

He made reference to the recent kicking out of LTTE activists from a meeting organised by the Sri Lanka Democracy Forum in memory of the late Ketheeshwaran Loganathan by supporters of democracy in Sri Lanka.

The meeting was also attended by the leaders of EROS, TULF and the EPRLF.
