Amadahara Vesak Zone from May 1-3

COLOMBO: The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, in partnership with several other organisations, will conduct the Amadahara Vesak Zone programme this year too.

ANCL will be joined in this endeavour by Orange Electric (main sponsor), Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank, Inland Revenue, Nations Trust Bank, Cargills and several other organisations.

The Amadahara Zone will cover the area surrounding Lake House, including D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Chittampalam A Gardiner Mawatha, Fort, Lotus Road, Presidential Secretariat and Cetiya Road. The whole area will be illuminated by the respective institutions and banners extolling the virtues of the Dhamma will be displayed.

ANCL staff will present a Bhakthi Gee recital on both May 1 and 2. Other organisations too will present Bhakthi Gee programmes.

Dan Selas will offer food and drink to the Vesak sightseers. Lantern exhibitions and competitions will also be held. The programme will commence by 6 p.m. on May 1 and continue till May 3. The media coverage will be sponsored by Lakhanda and ITN and some of the major events will be broadcast live.
