Jathika Saviya/Gama Neguma is Govt. policy - Nation Building
Minister
ELLA: Since the Jathika Saviya/Gama Neguma Development
Programme of Mahinda Chintanaya is the Government policy of social,
political, economic and cultural uplift of Sri Lanka, the public
servants must consider it their duty to dedicate themselves for the
welfare of the under-privileged masses said Nation Building Minister A.P.
Jagath Pushpakumara.
Minister Pushpakumara was speaking at the problem, solution and
Progress Review Meeting of the Gama Neguma Programme at the Divisional
Secretariat of Ella under the patronage of Justice Minister Dilan Perera
who is the Chairman said the Bandarawela Co-ordinating Committee,
yesterday (19).
Minister Pushpakumara said under the Mahinda Chintanaya policy,
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has endeavoured to revive the development
process of the country which is fast deteriorating and his efforts to
put a full-stop to alcoholism which is termed as “Mathata Thitha” had
been immensely successful during the festive season of Sinhala/Hindu New
Year thereby enabling a peaceful climate in every household to observe
the annual customs and traditions.
“Gama Neguma” is not a mere programme of infrastructure development
and ‘concrete forest’ building, but goes beyond to encourage
satisfaction of human demands on rural level. It envisages officials’
contribution from the top brass to grass roots level to eke out benefits
from the minimum of resources with the highest degree of productivity,
he said.
Justice Minister Dilan Perera, Uva Provincial Health Minister Rohana
Pushpakumara and Ella Divisional Secretary, D.M.L. Bandaranayake also
spoke. |
