LTTE guns down two in Batticaloa

BATTICALOA: Two persons from the same family were shot dead by LTTE cadres in the wee hours of yesterday in Kovilkudiyiruppu, Batticaloa, the Media Centre for the National Security said.

According to a spokesman for the MCNS, Muttiah Paskaran (27) and Suppam Rasamani (58) were shot dead by the Tigers yesterday around 1.00 a.m. at their residence in Kovilkudiyiruppu. Batticaloa police are conducting investigations. Meanwhile, a civilian was gunned down by an unidentified group of gangsters in Thirunavakulam, Vavuniya on Monday night, Vavuniya police said.

The Vavuniya police said four gunmen stormed the residence of Chandrabose Sudhakaran (32) around 7.30 p.m. and shot him in the presence of his eight year old son. The motive for the killing is yet unknown.

Vavuniya police are investigating.
